There is allot of emphasis on prints this Spring/Summer. Hence why I move on from the printed short to the printed pant. From tribal to floral to animal print and bold geographical prints; there is something for everyone. Personally, I would tread carefully on this one as I was not blessed with a stick figure and certain prints add instant bulk in areas that don’t really need it!
I know very little about the fifties other than the good wife stereotype and the fabulous fashion on offer. Luckily for us, fifties fashion has made a comeback. Even more so lucky, the ideologies have not. I share with you both the modern take on the fifties look and an article from Housekeeping Monthly, 13 May, 1955.
The Good Wife’s Guide

•Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have be thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they get home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.
•Prepare yourself. Take 15 minutes to rest so you’ll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh-looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people.
•Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a lift and one of your duties is to provide it.
•Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives. Run a dustcloth over the tables.
•During the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift too. After all, catering to his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.
•Minimize all noise. At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.
•Be happy to see him.
•Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.
•Listen to him. You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first – remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours.
•Don’t greet him with complaints and problems.
•Don’t complain if he’s late for dinner or even if he stays out all night. Count this as minor compared to what he might have gone through at work.
•Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or lie him down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him.
•Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing and pleasant voice.
•Don’t ask him questions about his actions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.
•A good wife always knows her place.

What was once used mostly for patio furniture is now also being transformed into eye catching hand bags, totes and clutches. A modern twist on the picnic basket, these wicker creations make a bold statement and look best when teamed with a feminine piece. The hard woven fiber is both sturdy and long lasting making it a sound investment in addition to looking fabulous. My personal favourite is the Anne Klein Wicker Park Small Shopper, whats yours?

It took me awhile to come around to this particular trend. Peplum slightly reminds me of the bubble skirt circa 1989. But as with most things, stick with something long enough and it begins to grow on you. Peplum dresses seem to be the most popular, but I am quite enamoured with some of the peplum shirts on offer; sort of a cute re-invention of the baby doll style. There are also jackets and blazers with peplum detail for those more on the conservative side and skirts with peplum pocket details for a funky, vintage vibe.

A dark cloud with a gold sequin and studded lining hung over the Fall 2012 runway shows recently; models styled with heavy dark makeup and slicked back hair wore black leather and sequins, gold lame, metal , spike and stud accessories. Goth meets glam; a close cross between Ziggy Stardust and Marilyn Manson.

I have a very close relationship with my black leather high top sneakers. They are extremely comfortable, but also versatile enough to be dressed down for the day and can also look quite smart teamed up with black tailored skinny pants and a blazer for evening. I do, however, like to amp it up with a heel once in awhile, but would like to do so without foregoing the comfort of a sneaker. Now I can! The wedge sneaker offers a fun, comfortable alternative to the high heeled shoe. My only advice would be to pair them up with prints and flirty, feminine pieces to keep from looking too sporty.

I am aware that I reference the eighties allot. Mostly because of the bad fashion that came out of that era, and it also happens to be when I graduated from high school. So why is it that the fashion from the eighties keeps getting regurgitated when it was so awful the first time around? Perhaps they are trying to get it right this time. Regardless, here we are in S/S 2012 and neon has made a comeback. How you wear this trend is key to not looking like you are attending a rave or acting as a school crossing guard. Personally I choose to add a neon accent instead of it being a focal point; but I must say I have seen the look pulled of marvelously by others when worn correctly. If wearing a neon clothing item, my advice would be to offset it with a neutral piece as well. Neon accessories are also in abundance for those who might be a tad gun shy but willing to give it a go.

Lets face it ladies, not all of us can get away with wearing super tiny denim cut-offs in the summer. Aside from the obvious, we may come off looking like a trashier version of Daisy Duke. The high-waisted print short, though some still in denim, offer a classier option to the original denim cut-offs and cover a multitude of sins in the mid-drift section. Hell, I could even get away with wearing a crop top with one of these babies! Happy weekend all!
I come from the era of tie dye shirts and acid wash jeans. The tie dye had resurfaced from the sixties into the eighties and nineties due to a very large Grateful Dead following and acid wash was, well, just poor judgment on all our parts. Not a good look in any stretch of the imagination. As fashion trends are constantly getting recycled from decade to decade, there was no doubt that there would be an altered version of the original tie dye/acid wash trend. Ombre is a much classier take on the original trend. There are several ways to wear Ombre, some of which are more show stopping than others. I am not a huge fan of Ombre in bold colours, I lean more towards the more subdued tones on offer. Still not convinced? Add a few accessories in ombre to your outfit and be done with it.
